A mobile hand washing station 1 comprises a sink 3, a tap 2, a clean water tank 7 and a water purification unit 19. The tap has a first inlet 21, a first outlet 22, and a second outlet 23, wherein the first outlet is directed to the sink, and is selectively openable by a user. In use, water is pumped continuously around a clean water circuit, from the clean water tank to the first inlet, from the second outlet to the water purification unit, and from the water purification unit back to the clean water tank. Preferably the first outlet is larger than the second outlet.
