A sliding member is made of ceramics containing aluminum oxide as a main component and fluorine, the sliding member including: a surface portion having a sliding contact portion; and an inside surrounded by the surface portion, in which a concentration of fluorine on a sliding contact surface of the sliding contact portion is higher than a concentration of fluorine in the inside as obtained from element mapping by an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. The disk for false twisting machines includes a sliding member.
