A support system (10) for formworks (70) comprising:at least one pair of primary frame beams (20) parallel to each other anda plurality of secondary frame beams (30) parallel to each other and at right angles to the primary frame beams (20), wherein the pair of primary frame beams (20) and/or the plurality of secondary frame beams (30) defines a support surface for a bottom wall (71) of a formwork (70),characterised in that each secondary frame beam (30) is arranged predominantly within the vertical dimension of the pair of primary frame beams (20) and comprises two opposing ends, each of which is joined head-on to a respective primary frame beam (20).
