The invention relates to a connecting device (4) for connecting a first panel formwork element (2) to a second panel formwork element (3), having: a connector (7) for connection, in particular for detachable connection, to the first panel formwork element (2), a gripper (10) connected to the connector (7) for gripping at least one frame part of the first panel formwork element (2) and/or second panel formwork element (3), wherein the gripper (10) is pivotable about a first axis (17) when in a first position on the connector (7), wherein the gripper (10) is pivotable about a second axis (21) substantially perpendicular to the first axis (17) when in a second position on the connector (7).
