The invention relates to a method for processing a starting product to produce a building material, wherein the starting product is reduced in size and homogenized before it is made available for further processing. According to the invention, the product is reduced in size and homogenized in a wet milling step, wherein a product is chosen as the starting product that contains at least 20 mass % of one or more of the following components, ultramafic rocks, weathered products of ultramafic rocks or a forsterite source. Furthermore, the invention relates to a prefabricated component that is produced by the method according to the invention.
