The invention relates to a positioning device for a motor vehicle door, which is provided in its basic design with an electric motor drive (7) for a positioning element (1, 2), furthermore with at least one sensor (6) assigned to the positioning element (1, 2), and with a movement element (9) optionally securing or releasing the positioning element (1, 2) and/or the motor vehicle door. The sensor (6) is capable at least of measuring a force engaging on the positioning element (1, 2). According to the invention, the movement element (9) can be acted upon at least independently of the operator in accordance with signals from the sensor (6).
