USE OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL AS GRINDING AID FOR MINERAL MATERIALS
The present invention relates to the use of polyvinyl alcohol as a grinding aid for mineral materials, especially Portland cement clinker, kiln dust, stone powders, slag, fly ash, burnt oil shale, silica fume, and/or volcanic ashes. The use of polyvinyl alcohol as a grinding aid leads to improved mineral materials which are less susceptible to contents of adsorbing materials, especially contents of clay minerals. The present invention also relates to ground mineral materials obtained by dry grinding in the presence of a polyvinyl alcohol, and to construction materials comprising such ground mineral materials.
