The present invention provides an improved luminescent composition for high-power lighting applications. There is provided a phosphor ceramic comprising a garnet material having the composition of (A1-x-y-zCexTbyEuz)3(Al1-wGaw)5O12, wherein A comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Gd, La, Lu, Sc, and Sm; wherein 0<1. There is also provided a method for producing such a phosphor ceramic comprising the steps of:a. providing a garnet material having the composition of (A1-x-y-zCexTbyEuz)3(Al1-wGaw)5O12, wherein A comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Gd, La, Lu, Sc, and Sm; wherein 0<1;b. forming it into a shape; andc. sintering the formed shape.
