A device for protecting a line comprising: a tubular body adapted to receive the line and to insert the tubular body in an opening in a first direction, the tubular body comprising a first end and a second end; and retention means coupled to the tubular body; the retention means are adapted to prevent the movement of the tubular body in the opening in a second direction when the tubular body receives the line, the second direction being opposite the first direction; and the retention means are also adapted to enable the movement of the tubular body in the opening at least in the second direction when the tubular body does not receive the line. And a method for inserting a line in an opening of an installation.
