The façade covering 1 for upgrading the energy efficiency of an exterior facade comprises an impermeable rigid facing element 2, a first thermal insulation layer 3 placed against the interior face of the facing element, and a second thermal insulation layer 4 comprising at least one indentation 6 for positioning against a corresponding projecting relief P of the façade. The second insulation layer may have a thickness less than the first. The insulation layers may comprise a fibrous material. The facing element may comprise wood fibres, a polymer thermoplastic binder and a mineral filler. The facing element may comprise a metal. The borders of the covering may comprise edge gaskets in a groove for achieving a leaktight seal. Also claimed is a large element comprising a plurality of the coverings. The large element may comprise a framework, and an aperture for arrangement opposite a window or opening in the façade. Also claimed is a method of manufacturing a large element consisting of performing a topographical survey of the façade using a drone, sizing the large element based on the survey, producing a lay-out drawing of the covering, and prefabricating the large element.
