L'invention concerne un procédé de renouvellement de rails anciens (21) d’une voie ferrée (20), dans lequel durant une première phase (A), des longs rails nouveaux (22) sont déchargés le long de la voie ferrée (20) depuis une rame de transport (120) d’un train de travaux (100) circulant dans un premier sens de circulation (F1), caractérisé en ce que durant une deuxième phase (B) le train de travaux circule dans un deuxième sens de circulation (F1) opposé au premier sens de circulation (F1), les longs rails nouveaux (22) étant posés puis fixés sur une structure fixe (23) de la voie ferrée (20) durant la deuxième phase (B). Disclosed is a method for renewing old rails of a railway track in which, during a first phase, new long rails are unloaded along the railway track from a set of transport wagons of a work train travelling in a first direction of travel and, during a second phase, the work train travels in a second direction of travel opposite the first direction of travel, the new long rails being placed on then fastened to a fixed structure of the railway track during the second phase; and a work train designed to implement the method for renewing old rails.
