A domestic building and a method of constructing such a building
A method of constructing a domestic building comprises the steps of building a foundation 12 on-site and constructing first and second units off-site in a factory. Each of the units comprises a frame and portions of a staircase, the first unit having a kitchen and the second unit having a bathroom. The units are transported to the site and the first unit placed on the foundation, the second unit being placed on the first. A plurality of extension walls are built extending from the foundation and the units and a roof 88 constructed before the walls are then clad. Lifting connectors may be attached to the units and the extension walls may be partially built prior to location of the second unit on the first unit. A paired connector may be used to connect extension walls to the units, and the connector may comprise a stem and a head engaging with a key-hole aperture, the aperture having cam surfaces. A domestic building including stacked first and second units and a plurality of extension walls is also claimed.
