A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A safety rail lifter 10 comprises an elongate telescopic strut 12, a first safety rail riser 14 rotatably engaged with a telescoping part 32 of the telescopic strut 12, and a second safety rail riser 16 rotatably engaged with the telescoping part 32 of the telescopic strut 12 and coaxial with the first safety rail riser 14. A first lifting collar 18 is also rotatably engaged with the telescoping part 32 of the telescopic strut 12 and interposed between the first and second safety rail risers 14, 16, and a second lifting collar 20 is rotatably engaged with the telescoping part 32 of the telescopic strut 12 and adjacent to an end of the second safety rail riser 16 which is remote from the first safety rail riser 14. A first lifting handle 22 which extends from the first lifting collar 18 along one side of the telescopic strut 12 and which is releasably engagable with a housing part 30 of the telescopic strut 12 is provided, along with a second lifting handle 24 which extends from the second lifting collar 20 along another side of the telescopic strut 12 and which is releasably engagable with the housing part 30 of the telescopic strut 12. A connector 26 for releasably connecting the housing part 30 of the telescopic strut 12 to a cross-member is also provided.
