An elongate stop member 1 is fixed in a first position to a door frame 2 and in a second position to a complementary door 4, to allow the door to be opened in the reverse to normal direction in an emergency. Releasable fixing elements 6, hooked lugs (14, fig 3), preferably extend from the rear of the stop to engage a retainer 16 on the door frame, the retainer may be a plate 18 with apertures 20. Second retaining means preferably comprise retaining plates (50, fig 6) on the door which cooperates with hooked buttons (34, 36, fig 3) projecting from the stop. The plate preferably comprises an opening and slot housing a sliding retention plate. A lever 26, located in a recess on the front of the stop, preferably locks the stop in either first or second positions.
