Room drying apparatus and method
The portable airflow control apparatus 1 is for drying a room and comprises a housing 2 adapted to be pneumatically connected to a portable heater (11, figure 2), preferably via receipt of locking projections of the heater in recesses 10. The housing also includes a room air inlet port, room air outlet port, ambient air inlet port, room air exhaust port, controller and switching means. The controller monitors air temperature and humidity when air is being re-circulated within a room being dried until a pre-selected parameter is reached, after which the controller signals the switching means to exhaust re-circulated air from the room. Ambient air from outside the room is drawn either while re-circulated air is exhausted or afterwards. Ideally a duct 6 of the housing defines the room air and ambient air inlets on opposing sides thereof and includes two tangential fans 7 to direct the received air through respective outlet ducts 8 having associated shutters 9. A second duct 4 in the housing can include an axial fan 5 that draws room air in and expels the same either back into the room or outside to ambient via ducting 12. AN RF transmitter-receiver 13 may be provided.
