A method of operating an automatic door installation
A method of operating an automatic door, which may be in an elevator, the door comprising door sensor equipment including an optical door sensor 100 and a signal processing unit 108, the optical door sensor 100 having an emitter 102 and a receiver 106, comprises evaluating a level of optical or electronic noise affecting the door sensor equipment, determining whether the level of noise is excessive and generating an alert when it is excessive. The alert may be generated in a remote monitoring station. The method may comprise conducting spectral analysis to identify peak noise frequencies and correlating these with known noise sources to determining a possible source of the noise. The door may be operable in a standard mode and, when the level of noise is excessive, in a contingency mode, each mode performing a different obstacle check. The check may comprise emitting a light signal and determining if it is detected; the check in the contingency mode may also include a repeat of the check and/or having a longer time period to detect the signal. The contingency mode may include reducing the speed of the door closing and/or generating an audible and/or visual warning.
