Insulated Base Rail For Supporting External Wall Insulation
The base rail 2 comprises a base layer formed of thermally insulating material 4 and an outer protective layer. The outer protective layer includes a first planar 6 portion bonded to and covering an outer face of the base layer. A second portion 10 extends orthogonally and outwardly from the first portion such that it is co-planar with an upper face of the insulating material. The upper face and second portion form a base for an external wall insulation to be supported on. The rail may also include a third portion 14 extending upwardly from the second planar layer to form an outer lip that, in use, covers and retains a portion of the wall panel insulation. A water impervious damp proof layer 16 may be provided covering the upper face of the base layer and at least a portion of the second portion. The damp proof layer may be a plastic membrane or a settable liquid.
