A gully grating comprises a grating 14 and frame 12. A top surface 26 of the frame 12 defines two notional planes 44, 46. The grating 14 includesat least one dropped barrier bar 72. The whole upper surface of the dropped bar may be below the notional plane. The top surface of the frame may comprise two notional planes (44, 46 figure 3) in a V-shape. A later embodiment relates to a method of providing a drainage point such that each plane is substantially flush with the surrounding ground, and the or each dropped bar is substantially perpendicular to anticipated water flow direction.
