A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A composite panel, which may be used on conservatory roofs and walls, comprises one or more vacuum insulated panels (VIP), 1, 2, 3. The VIPs are laminated or attached on either side to sheets, which may be made from plastic or glass and may be wider and/or longer than the VIP. A band of insulating material, which may be Aerogel (RTM) 4 may surround the perimeter edges of the VIPs. A further band of material such as styrene 5 may surround the inner band 4. The composite panel thus forms a laminate structure with vacuum panels encapsulated by the planar panels and the perimeter insulation. The sheets may be printed to resemble roof tiles or brickwork and may be attached to a grid which may be fitted to a conservatory roof or walls. The panels may be made to number of standard sizes.
