Locking device with lockable spindle follower linkage
A retractable latch includes a spindle follower linkage 7b coupled with a latch 7h and rotatable between a extended locked position and a retracted unlocked position. A locking block or dog 7c is formed with a pin hole 7p parallel with rotational axis of the spindle follower. A pin 7e is insertable through an opening 7q of a housing 7r and into the pin hole 7p. A locking block spring 7k for biasing the locking block 7c in a first position where the pin 7e is inserted into the pin hole '7p and the locking block 7c is disengaged from the spindle follower linkage 7b, to a second position when the pin 7e is removed and the locking block 7c is pushed towards and abuts the spindle follower linkage 7b, holding the spindle follower linkage 7b in the locked position preventing rotation of the spindle. The locking block may include a protrusion engaging a notch in the spindle follower (7v, 7u, fig.8). A spring unit may be held inside the pin hole 7p to facilitate ejection of the pin 7e.
