The roof batten connector 23 comprises a sleeve 24 having first and second ends 25, 26 sized to accommodate first and second battens 27, 28 respectively in use. Portions of the sleeve may be inwardly deformable to grip the battens by a crimping tool, and there may be perforations 29 along the sleeve through which nails, screws, rivets or staples may pass to secure the sleeve to the battens. The sleeve may be formed of folded sheet metal and have a cruciform insert equidistant between the first and second ends. Also claimed are kits of parts and a method of connecting two roof battens.
