A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A suspended platform system has tensioned flexible members, such as wire cables (102, fig 1), spanning a gap. Modular platforms (112, fig 1) are suspended on at least two adjacent tensioned wires, and suspension members (114, fig 1) are attached to an overhead support. Each of the suspension members depends downwardly from the overhead support, such as an underside of a bridge or an oil rig, and there are coupling assemblies (120, fig 1) associated with lower ends of the suspension members. Each one of the coupling assemblies couples one of the suspension members to a selected one of the tensioned wires. Furthermore, the suspended platform has elongate safety attachments interconnecting modular platforms. The safety attachments may be pins (502, fig 5) or cables 602.
