A slab support 1comprises: a first member 3 for location in use upon the ground, the first member having an upper and lower surface and front and rear ends; a second member 5 connected to the first member, extending from the upper surface thereof at an oblique angle towards the rear end 13 to define a slab support area 15 in which one or more slabs can, in use, be supported upright with one leaning against the second member 5. Preferably, a reinforcing strut 7 extends between the base and the rear surface of the resting plate. The invention is particularly suited to storing concrete paving slabs. Also defined is a portable slab support which comprises an elongate base plate with an elongate resting plate connected to, and extending from, the upper surface of said base plate at an oblique angle thereto to define a slab support area, between the base and a front surface of the resting plate having an obtuse angle, with a reinforcing strut extending between the base and the rear surface of the resting plate.
