Construction equipment and methods (seal)
A seal comprises a sheet of resilient elastomeric material 50 and at least one sheet of rigid material. At least one aperture 56 is provided in the elastomeric material in a region separate from the rigid material for the passage of a building services duct or pipe 18. The rigid material and a portion of the elastomeric material sealingly fit into a cavity. The seal may comprise a pair of elongate rigid material strips 52 separated by a gap. A method of installing a seal comprises moving a seal towards a cavity in a shape having a profile less than that of the cavity until the rigid material is close to or within the boundary of the cavity. A lateral action is then applied to form a sealing fit within the cavity. The ducts or pipes may be attached to seal before or after positioning the seal in the cavity.
