Latch installation tool A1 for installing first and second latch fittings A2 and C1, to the inside of a cupboard. The installation tool is inserted up to stop p into a slot in the second fitting C1, the second fitting is then secured to the inside side wall of a cupboard preferably by mechanical means, e.g. nails or screws, or temporary means, e.g. hook and loop fasteners or adhesive tape. The first latch fitting A2 is slid onto the opposite end of the installation tool A1. The drawer/door is closed and a pre-applied adhesive on the fitting A2 secures it to the inside of the door/drawer, such that when the door/drawer is opened the tool is slid out of the second fitting C1 and can be removed from the first fitting A2. Latching member B1 (Fig. B) van then be mechanically secured to the door/drawer through apertures in the first latch fitting. The latching member only allows the door/drawer to opened if the hook section B2 is pushed passed the hook C2 by the fingers of a user.
