A solar panel bird excluder
A solar panel bird excluder 5 for preventing birds entering the gap 4 formed between a solar panel 1 and the supporting surface, e.g. roof 3, to which it is mounted, the excluder having an elongate engaging portion 6, 7, 8 for mounting the excluder to the solar panel and an excluding portion 9 forming a barrier across the gap 4. The excluder may be extruded from a resiliently flexible plastic material such as UV resistant uPVC. There may be a lower arm 8 having a U-shaped clip portion for slotting onto the frame 2 of a solar panel (see Fig. 2) and an upper arm 7 angled towards the upper surface of the solar panel frame that can be flexed away from the solar panel during fitting, and when released is urged towards the panel to effectively grip the frame. The excluding portion may have flexible fingers 9a to accommodate various panel-roof gap sizes and uneven roof surfaces, the gaps between figures allowing free flow of water, air and dirt to prevent build up beneath the panel. Also claimed is a method of use.
