Payload monitoring system and method for a machine
A payload monitoring method uses a processor 204 having a memory and connected to a sensor 202 to determine that a loading event has occurred, the loading event being loading of material into a dump body 102 of a machine (100, fig 1) by a loading device. A current payload of the machine is determined based on a predetermined loading capacity of the loading device, and on a density of material. The material density and loading capacity may be determined from one of a plurality of predetermined user selected inputs. A signal may be outputted if the current payload exceeds a predetermined threshold capacity of the dump body. The sensor may be an inertia measuring device. The density may be determined from a received geographical location from a position sensor 212. A non-transitory computer readable medium has stored sequences of instruction which causes a computer based system to determine the current payload.
