Removing concrete structures from the seabed
The vehicle 10 comprises a drive system for driving the vehicle across a seabed, a crushing mechanism 32 supported by a body 18 for crushing seabed material e.g. concrete, a self-loading system to feed the material into the crushing mechanism and a disposal system for receiving crushed debris comprising a container 20 for holding the crushed debris. Preferably, the container is removable from the vehicle and can be recovered at the surface. Additionally, the body may further comprise a housing surrounding the crushing mechanism, the housing having an intake opening communicating with the crushing mechanism. The self-loading system may comprise at least one articulated lifting arm 44 mounted to the body. The vehicle may also comprise a conveyor system 40 extending from below the crushing system to the container. Also disclosed is a method of recovering subsea material using the vehicle.
