A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A support framework 1 comprises elongate supports 4 anchored to a supported surface 2 by a node having an individual dome member 5. The dome member has a part spherical surface to which one or more of the elongate supports extend radially, and is secured to the supported surface. The supports may be tubes or rods, and may be formed from a metal such as aluminium. A plurality of supports may extend radially to one or more nodes. Also claimed is a support framework located between two surfaces that comprises elongate supports having opposite ends anchored to domed nodes and secured to the surfaces. The domed member may include a hemispherical surface 6 having a flange. The domed member may be hollow and the hemispherical surface may be formed from metal or plastics. A coupling in the form of a cylindrical socket may receive the ends of the supports.
