A vehicle 10 is disclosed having a sliding door 12, fitted with a rotatable brake member 42, to apply a braking force to the sliding door 12, when the vehicle 10 is on a slope. The brake member 42 is automatically rotated about a pivot axis X-X by a moveable member 43C, forming part of an actuator 43, when the vehicle 10 is resting on a slope in a position in which a braking force is applied to the sliding door 15, by the interaction of the brake member 42, with an elongated track in the form of a sliding door support track 20B.
