The illuminable bollard comprises an illumination device 12, a pivotable body 14 arranged to support the illumination device and to define a channel 18 for housing at least one electrical connector 20 for connecting the illumination device to an electrical power supply, and a resiliently biased shock absorbing material 16 supported by the body. The pivotable body is preferably biased to the upright position by at least one elastic device 32. The shock absorbing material, which may be divided into different segments along the height of the body, is preferably arranged to oppose outward movement and dampen movement of the pivotable body. The shock absorbing material preferably comprises a plurality of internal hollow cells. The illuminable head is preferably positioned at least partly above the pivotable body. The bollard preferably includes a base 34, coupled to the pivotable body, which includes a cable entry portion for one or more power cables.
