Defoaming compositions
A defoaming composition comprising an organic acid ester of an ethylene oxide, propylene oxide block copolymer and an organic acid ester of polypropylene oxide polymer of the following formula. Where R is linear, branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl or alkyl carboxylate group of between 3 and 40 carbon atoms and n is from 16 to 68. The copolymer may be of the following fomrula where R is linear, branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl or alkyl carboxylate group of between 3 and 40 carbon atoms, a is 2 to 8 and b 16 to 68. The composition may comprise a diluent which may be organic and/or may contain a hydrophobic solid. Also included are; A method for reducing air entrainment in cement compositions by adding the defoaming compositions. A cement composition comprising the defoaming composition, a hydraulic cement and water and a method of cementing subterranean formations using said cement composition.
