Improvements in or relating to city cars
A vehicle 10 comprising a door 12 having a front edge 11 and a rear edge 13; an opening mechanism 20 provided substantially at the rear edge of the door, wherein the mechanism comprises two pivot locations 22,24 configured such that the door opens through a combination of rotation at both pivot locations. The mechanism may comprise two parallel interconnecting bars 26,28 forming a four bar linkage, wherein the bars may be spaced vertically from each other and dictate the maximum lateral opening distance of the door. The bars may be formed within a secondary door structure, in a bi-folding arrangement (See figs 2A,2B) with reinforcing means proximal to the pivot points. Intended for use in compact urban or city-cars where parking spaces limit the extent to which a vehicle door can be opened.
