Method of manufacturing a hollow core concrete slab
The insert comprises a flexible hollow body 202, a plug 208, and a collar 210, an end of the body being clamped between the exterior of the plug and the interior of the collar such that when fluid pressure P within the body increases the plug is driven into the collar to increase the clamping force on the body. The collar and plug may be tapered or frustoconical. Also claimed is a casting apparatus comprising the insert and a casting bed, and a method of manufacturing a hollow core concrete slab using the insert and casting bed. Also claimed are methods of manufacturing hollow core concrete slabs, one method comprising introducing a liquid between a core insert and the concrete, one method comprising depressurising a core insert then partially repressurising it, and one method comprising using core and cross inserts to create a serpentine flow path through the concrete once set.
