At least one element may have a rubber backing. Also claimed is a flooring system 10 comprising a metallic, magnetic layer 14 having a plurality of the flooring elements arranged upon it. The layer may comprise a thin sheet of metallic material on a support surface. The layer may form part of a raised access floor system. Also claimed is a flooring arrangement comprising a plurality of flooring elements, each carrying a compressible seal along at least one edge. Also claimed is a self-levelling compound incorporating particles of a magnetic, metallic material.
