A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A road lane separator that separates motorised traffic from cyclist, to define cycle lanes. The road separator has a higher profile on the road side to nudge or encourage a driver of a motorized vehicle or bike, to steer away from the cycle lane; and a shallower profile on the cycle lane side, to encourage a cyclist to steer away from passing motorised traffic. The barrier can be made from thermo-set plastic or thermo plastics, including recycled tyres. The barrier may also be made from ferrous or non ferrous metals. The road barrier is fixed to tarmac asphalt by bolts or adhesive.
