Thermally insulating anchor
The anchor 100 comprises a thermally insulating shaft 110 formed from a plastics material, and a metal coupling 130 securely fixed to one end of the shaft comprising a connector 140 for connection to a structural element. The plastics material may comprise fibreglass whose fibres are aligned along the length of the shaft. The shaft may be cylindrical, screw-threaded, and formed by pultrusion. The coupling may be a ferrule swaged to the shaft. The connector may be an internally screw-threaded nut. The other end of the shaft may be provided with a pointed tip 150 or a second metal coupling securely fixed to the shaft. Also claimed is a thermal break comprising a plurality of the structural anchors embedded within a thermally insulating material. The connector may comprise a threaded or unthreaded bolt, a hook, or a clamp.
