Electricity distribution assembly
An electricity supply assembly for a premises such as an office building includes a DC power supply and an electricity supply substrate suitable for covering a floor, wall, or other internal surface of the building. The substrate is formed to include at least first and second conductive layers 28, 30 and at least one layer of insulating material in a stacked configuration. The conductive layers 28, 30 are connected to the DC power supply (typically a low voltage such as 24 volts). The substrate can receive therein one or more connectors 42 at any user selected positions, the connectors 42 having portions 64, 66 to allow contact with the conductive layers 28, 30 so as to provide the electrical supply to the connector 42 and in turn allow the supply of electricity to an electrical item connected to the connector 42. The assembly allows flexibility over the locations of desks and lighting in an office building even after construction.
