A pile adaptor 10 for connecting a ground pile 54 to a structure 62 to be supported. The pile adaptor 10 has a plurality of pile engagement elements 12 each having a pile clamping element 18. The plurality of pile engagement elements 12 together define a pile receiving opening 24 that may have, in increasing order of specificity, non-circular, non-elliptical, polygonal or octagonal lateral cross section. There is a fastening means 28 for fastening the pile engagement elements 12 to each other so that the clamping elements 18 engage at least a portion of an exterior surface of the ground pile 54. There is a structure attachment means 34 for attaching the structure 62 to the pile engagement elements 18. At least one line contact may be made between each pile clamping element 18 and the ground pile 54 when the pile engagement elements 18 are fastened to each other. There is also provided a structure support system comprising a ground pile 54 and a 10 pile adaptor 10.
