A mountain frame for a wall-mounted washbasin
A mounting frame (1 figure 1) for use in the installation of a wall-washbasin. The mounting frame comprises a backboard 2 mounted between side brackets 3 which are secured to bearers in a stud wall or similar arrangement. The backboard defines front and rear surfaces 10a, capable of retaining fasteners 4, 5, 6 and hangers 22 for securing the washbasin and other wall-mounted fittings at appropriate positions relative to one another. At least one lower bracket 12 is connected to a lower edge of the backboard such that they are located beneath and comprise portions 14 that are stepped rearwards of the backboard. An odour trap 15 for the washbasin outlet is located in a notched portion of the backboard and secured to the lower bracket or brackets. The odour trap comprises an inlet pipe 25 for the connection of a waste outlet from the washbasin and an outlet pipe 27 for connection to a waste or soil pipe located on the rear side of the backboard. Preferably, the odour trap is located within a housing 17 that comprises a corrugated portion 26 adapted such that it can be cut down to vary the depth of the housing in order to accommodate the thicknesses of wall finish that will be applied to the front surface (10a) of the backboard.
