A vehicle for spreading aggregate chippings comprises an elongate hopper 32 and an extension hopper 34 for receiving and dispensing chippings, the elongate hopper having a fixed length along an axis of the hopper. The extension hopper also has a fixed length and is moveable relative to the elongate hopper in a direction parallel to the axis of the elongate hopper. This allows the vehicle to dispense chippings over a variety of road widths. A feed mechanism 92 conveys aggregate chippings from the elongate hopper to the extension hopper. A pair of wheels 100, 102 convey the vehicle in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the elongate hopper, the wheels being moveable relative to each other to change a distance between them. A pair of tracks may be carried by the wheels. The feed mechanism may be a screw conveyor and the vehicle may include a second extension hopper 36. The movement of the extension hoppers may be independent, and the vehicle may comprise a power unit to drive the wheels.
