A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The present invention relates to a drain hopper for use in a grey water recycling system. The drain hopper includes an inlet 102 for grey water and may comprise an inlet 104 for rainwater. The hoper has a primary water outlet (106 figure 1b), through which water can flow from the drain hopper into a drainage system. A valve seals the primary water outlet and prevents the flow of water through the outlet (106 figure 1b). The hopper has an auxiliary water outlet 110 through which water collected within the drain hopper when the primary water outlet is sealed can be diverted for use. The drainage system may be connected to a drainpipe 108 that is connected to the outlet 110. The valve may be a spherical plug 114 that is dimensioned to fit the outlet 106. The plug may be operated by a pull cord 118 attached to the plug 114. The opposite end of the cord 118 may be attached to a hook 122.
