A pizza oven 1 comprises a wall 2 forming a cooking chamber and at least one opening in the wall that enables access to the cooking chamber. An elongate brace 7 extends around at least part of a periphery of the oven adjacent a base of the oven wall. In use, the brace hinders outward movement of the wall. First and second ends of the brace may be anchored to a metal plate and/or to the oven under the opening. The first and second ends of the brace may be connected together and the brace may fully encircle the oven. The oven may comprise a plurality of Z-shaped snagging elements 9 that prevent upward movement of the brace. The brace may be formed of metal cord, cable or strap. The oven may comprise a turnbuckle to tension the brace.
