A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A prefabricated block wall section 1 comprising a plurality of blocks 2, arranged in layers one atop another, a first and a second rail 4, 5, each rail placed on a edge of the layers of blocks opposite the other rail, and a plurality of tendons 3, which runthrough the layers of blocks and are connected to each rail. The rails on each edge of the layers of blocks and the tendons 3 running between the two rails help to hold the layers of blocks in place. The rails may include co-operating formations so that they fit together when sections are stacked. The blocks may be coupled together using a polymer mortar. Also claimed is a wall where wall sections are stacked one on top of another. Also claimed is a method of creating a section by placing tendons on a rail and layering blocks and then connecting the second rail.
