Fire rated glass flooring
A flooring system having a plurality of glass flooring units 100a,b, each unit having a first layer of structural glass 116 being spaced from a second layer 118 by load transferring means, preferably box section 120a,b, located at an edge of each unit, the system having at least one supporting beam, preferably I or T beam 112, located at the edge of the units in a grid, the units being secured to the beams, the system also having expansion joints 110 having two clips (200a,b Fig. 2) connected to the load transferring means, a resilient seal (202, Fig. 2) located between the two clips and extending to an upper surface of the units, and a drainage means (204, Fig. 2) located below the seal and the clips to capture and drain fluid. The resilient seal may be structural silicone and may be T-shaped such that they are supported by and partially sandwiched between the clips. The clips may extend along the length of the side of each panel.
