A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A drive, for a door or window closer, comprising a housing 12 with a cylinder (20, fig.1) in which a spring biased piston slides and divides the cylinder into fluid chambers. The housing includes a plurality of successive inlet/outlet bores/holes 24 through which hydraulic fluid flows; the bores/holes are offset both axially and circumferentially along the cylinder to be passed over and successively sealed or released by the piston as it slides. An adjustable valve orientated perpendicular to the cylinder bore is moved to control which inlet/outlet bores 24 are open thereby adjusting hydraulic functions of the drive, e.g. adjusting the stroke distance of the piston to account for different doors that open to larger angles like 160 degrees or 170 degrees, rather than 60 degrees or 70 degrees. The plurality of offset bores can be inclined in a straight line or a curve or two different angled straight lines.
