A reversible adjustable hinge 10 has a frame portion 6 and a sash portion 14 comprising a pair of lateral adjustment plates 54, 56 hingedly connected to the frame portion and laterally fixed relative to the frame portion and a sash attachment member 64 located between the lateral adjustment plates and fixed relative to a sash. A lateral adjustment mechanism 86, 88, 92 adjusts the position of the sash attachment member laterally relative to the lateral adjustment plates. The sash attachment member 64 can be secured to a sash with either one of the lateral adjustment plates 54, 56 located between the sash attachment member and the sash thus allowing the hinge to be mounted either left or right handed. A cover 18 may be provided over the plates. The adjustment plates 54 56 may be an integrally formed U shape or two separate plates connected to the hinge pin. The plates may have slots 78 for allowing the lateral adjustment of fixing screws of the hinge.
