A hinge comprising a first and second hinge block each having at least one first beam member, each beam having a slot and a hole; a first linkage having a first pivotal connection within the first hole of the first beam member 254B and a second slidable and pivotal connection 254A with the slot of the second beam member, and a second linkage having the alternative arrangement 264A/B. In use the hinge blocks are mounted on first and second frames such that the maximum distance the frames translate away from each other is less than the difference between the width of the frame. Preferably the hinge slots have angled portions and a point of inflexion, the slots may also be symmetrical. Also claimed is a rail hinge for mounting to a hinge member to a sliding rail for a bifold door. Also claim is a frame member for a bifold door having a thermal break.
