Urinal sensor system
A sanitary ware product, such as a urinal 10, comprises an outlet pipe 12 and a sensor 20 attached to the outlet pipe 12; wherein the sensor 20 is operable to detect the presence of fluid in the outlet pipe 20, and is configured to output at least one first signal containing first information relating to the presence of fluid in the outlet pipe 12, to a processor. The processor is configured to process the first information relating to the presence of fluid to generate second information and output a second signal based on the second information to a device. The processor may use the output from the sensor 20 to monitor the usage frequency of the urinal 10, or to detect a blockage in the outlet pipe 20 if the period of time fluid is present in the outlet pipe exceeds a threshold. The second signal may control a flush valve device 50; control a light source 60 fig. 3, and may be output to a handheld device or a computer, which may be used to control the operation of the sensor 20. The light may indicate malfunction, blockage, leakage in the urinal. The sensor may detect properties of urine / fluid, e.g. detect salt levels, detect a substance amount. The system may comprise an RFID reader to identify a urinal user wearing an RFID tag, e.g. for hospital patient monitoring. The outlet pipe may comprise an adjustable length.
