Leak and overfill detection device
A liquid detection strip 1 for detecting and indicating the presence of liquid, having a first end 7, a second end 11 and a capillary flow path extending between them, the first end having an inlet into the flow path, the second end having an indicator which changes a characteristic in the presence of liquid. The strip may have an absorbent inner material 5, e.g. a fibrous, a woven material, paper, enclosed within an outer transparent polyethylene waterproof coating layer 5. The indicator may a hydrochromic ink spot 13 at a viewing region 13 which changes appearance e.g. colour when wet or moist. A method is disclosed wherein the strip is cut at cut line 9 to expose the inner material of the flow path immediately prior to use, the strip adhered to a toilet cistern tank, the first end located above a normal water line but below an overflow line, the second end located outside the cistern for viewing, to monitor float valve problems.
